Flame/Candle

So Day One of WoPoWriMo – here is my first effort, it is unedited and raw so feed back would be good 🙂

It has been inspired from the writing exercise on the WoPo website.

Flame/Candle

Flaring gutter

Dancing shadows

In waxen pools

Clear Warmth

Consumed

Dying in reaction

Sucked from the centre

Drained into dancing light

Smokey tendrils

A heat shimmer soul

Fragile consuming flame

In living

Time grows short

Smooth yellowed white

Pillar

Soft at the edges

Like bone

I like it. My one thought is at the line “In Living” – are you comparing the candle flame to living?

  2. admin Says:

Yes that was the idea – in that we age as we live and the candle grows smaller as it burns, leading both on to the inevitable end.

    thanks 🙂
